Start with Your Flights, Not a Long Wish List
The time between scheduled flights is not all available for sightseeing. Arrival procedures, baggage collection if required, boarding the vehicle, road travel and the airport return all need time.
Provide your airline's required check-in and airport arrival guidance for the onward flight. Agree a return target that allows for those requirements. No universal minimum layover length is promised here; suitability depends on the actual journey.
If the usable window is too short, staying at the airport is preferable to squeezing in a rushed tour. A delayed arrival may require shortening or cancelling the proposed outing under the agreed booking arrangements.
Choose a Compact Athens Stopover Programme
Discuss a small selection of sightseeing priorities rather than attempting a full-day itinerary between flights. You might request city orientation, a suitable viewpoint or time in the historic centre, subject to traffic, access and available time.
A visit inside the Acropolis or a museum requires additional planning for opening hours, tickets, queues and walking. Do not assume attraction entry can fit your flight schedule. Autumn and Winter Layovers
Check the current opening hours of any requested attraction before confirming the itinerary. Plan around daylight, expected walking conditions and your group's preferences. Bad weather or changed access may make a shorter outdoor stop or revised programme more appropriate.
Do not buy time-sensitive attraction tickets based on an unconfirmed itinerary. Agree how proposed stops will be adjusted if arrival delays or road conditions reduce the available window.
Airport Meeting Point and Return Details
Before travel, confirm the collection point, contact arrangements and what happens if your flight is delayed. Landing time is not the time you will be ready to board the minivan.
Give the onward flight number, terminal details supplied by your airline and any baggage check-in requirements. The agreed airport return takes priority over adding another sightseeing stop. Road delays and other disruptions remain possible; this service does not guarantee catching a flight.
